Life in (and around) Brussels…

Random tips on things to do and places to go in Brussels and beyond

Mont Liban

Mont Liban is referred to by some as the best and most authentic Lebanese restaurants in town (despite the not-so-authentic and even less skilled belly dancers they occasionally have in the evenings).

The restaurant is only a 3-4 minute walk from Place Stephanie (on rue de Livourne 30, 1050 Brussels, 02/ 537 71 31). The decor is nothing remarkable, but the food is good (try the hot mezze, especially the sfiha lahmeh).

Dinner will cost at least EUR 25 per person without any drinks, so it’s probably not a place you would want to dine at every day, and the quantities seem to have gotten smaller in past years. They also deliver food to your home through the remarkably slow and unreliable RestoPresto service (order way before you start getting hungry).

They also have a catering service, with lower prices than if you dine in. Great for parties, although not cheap.

  1. Hi, I really like your site and enjoy the recommendations. I have to admit, though, that I was not impressed by Mont Liban. More so than the food, the service was very rude and I found the food to be quite expensive. We recently found a Lebanese restaurant in WSL called Phenicia (http://www.resto.be/ware/details.jsp?businessid=889). I give it very high marks. Bon appetit.

  2. Thanks for the feedback! I have to confess it’s been a while since I went to Mont Liban, but I’m disappointed to hear that the service has deteriorated since.

Last time I had food from Mont Liban it was at a private party (delivery) and although the quality was good, I did hear that it was a bit pricey, so thanks a lot for the Phenicia recommendation. I’ll definitely check it out!

I heard the Lebanese restaurant at Place du Chatelain is not bad, but I haven’t had a chance to try it yet. Do let me know if you do!
